Is 8 days itinerary in Sri Lanka long enough for Yala?

Yes, an 8-day trip gives you plenty of time for Yala National Park if you plan the route carefully. You certainly don’t need a whole week there, so fitting in a quick two-day wildlife adventure is very doable while still seeing the rest of the island.

I always suggest fitting Yala into a wider loop, maybe through the south or east. The best way to do it is to head down from the hill country or Ella, stay just one night near the park, and knock out a safari the next morning or afternoon. That leaves you about six days to wander through the Cultural Triangle or hang out on the southern coast. If you’re really just going for the animals, honestly, look at Udawalawe National Park instead. It’s smaller, way easier to get to, and honestly, you’re almost guaranteed to see more elephants without spending your whole trip on the road.
