About This Tour

Explore four distinct parts of Sri Lanka during a five-day private tour. You will start on the old lanes in Galle, where the coast sets the pace. Next, head toward Udawalawe for a wildlife day you will not forget. After that, travel up to Haputale and see the tea hills up close.

From there, continue to Nuwara Eliya for cool, scenic countryside. Finish in Kandy and experience the city’s lively culture. This plan fits people who have little time. It is a short route with different scenery, a few key stops, and private transport that keeps things comfortable.

Day 01Airport → Galle | Coastal Heritage & Fort Sunset⌄

Your trip starts at Bandaranaike International Airport. Your private tourist driver will meet you there and drive you down to Galle using the expressway.

When you arrive, go check in at your place to stay. After that, take it easy for a while. If your flight lands early, you can spend the afternoon wandering around Galle Fort. Look through the small stores and stop for a coffee at a nearby cafe.

In the evening, go for a walk on the old ramparts. Watch the sun set over the Indian Ocean. Then head back to your hotel.

Day 02Galle → Tangalle → Udawalawe | Southern Coast & Safari Country⌄

After you finish breakfast, head out from Galle and go east along the south coast of Sri Lanka. Stop in a few seaside towns before you reach Tangalle. If you can, take a short break at the beach for a quick look, some photos, or a drink.

After lunch, turn toward the interior and go to Udawalawe. The road will pass small villages, and the landscape will feel different as you travel.

When you reach your accommodation near Udawalawe National Park, check in and settle down. If you arrive early enough, you can join a scheduled visit at the Elephant Transit Home.

Spend the evening at a relaxed pace. Get some rest so you are ready for wildlife viewing the next day.

Day 03Udawalawe → Wellawaya → Haputale | Morning Safari & Highland Journey⌄

Kick off the day with a private jeep safari, if you want it, in Udawalawe National Park. Look around for wild elephants, water buffalo, crocodiles, and a mix of birds.

Head back to your hotel for breakfast. Clean up, then check out.

Travel on toward Haputale, passing through the Wellawaya area. Stop for lunch and take a few photos when the views open up.

Keep going and notice the shift in scenery. The trip moves from hot lowlands to cooler mountain country. Reach Haputale in the afternoon and settle into your stay.

If you have time, pop by a tea estate viewpoint nearby. After that, enjoy an easy evening in the hills.

Day 04Haputale → Nuwara Eliya → Kandy | Tea Mountains & Cultural Capital⌄

Start your day with breakfast, then look out over the nearby highlands before you leave. After that, set off on the drive toward Kandy.

You will pass through Sri Lanka’s tea belt. Stop in Nuwara Eliya to rest for a bit and to have lunch. After lunch, you can choose what fits your plan best. You may tour a tea factory, or you can stop at a few nice spots with views.

Next, take the mountain roads as you head for Kandy. This part takes longer, so the stops will be timed around how you feel and what time you have.

When you get to Kandy, check into your hotel. If you arrive with time to spare, go for a walk near Kandy Lake. Or you can visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic in the evening.

Day 05Kandy → Bandaranaike International Airport | Cultural Morning & Departure⌄

Start your last morning with breakfast at the hotel.

If your flight out is later in the evening, you can fit in a quick stop at the Temple of the Tooth Relic. You may also want to walk through Kandy’s local market or look around a couple of souvenir stores before you go.

After that, your own driver will drive you to Bandaranaike International Airport. The trip time will be set to match your departure time and your airline check-in needs.

Can we enjoy Galle Fort at sunset on the arrival day?

Yes, when your flight arrival and transfer time allow. If you reach Galle late, the first evening is best kept for checking in and resting.

Is there time for the Elephant Transit Home stop on Day 02?

The Elephant Transit Home may fit if you reach the Udawalawe area around a scheduled visitor session. The visit is optional and depends on the current programme and opening arrangements.

Can we start Day 03 with an Udawalawe safari before travelling to Haputale?

Yes. The itinerary allows an optional early jeep safari followed by breakfast and your drive via Wellawaya to Haputale. Safari tickets and jeep hire cost extra.

Will we have time for tea-estate viewpoints near Haputale?

A short viewpoint stop is possible on arrival if daylight and the previous travel schedule allow. The overnight stay is in Haputale, with flexibility to relax at your accommodation.

Can we stop in Nuwara Eliya and still visit Kandy on Day 04?

Yes, but this is a longer mountain-road transfer. You can choose a tea-factory visit or a few viewpoints around Nuwara Eliya; sightseeing in Kandy depends on when you arrive.
