Where to watch traditional Kandyan dancing?

Traditional Kandyan dancing feels best when you catch it at the daily cultural shows in Kandy city, especially around the Kandy Lake Club, the Red Cross Society, or the YMBA hall.

Those vibrant, one-hour performances start every evening about 5:00 PM, and they show a mixture of old Highland rituals, acrobatic drumming, and mask dances. Near the end, everything shifts outdoors, so you can see the thrilling fire-walking and fire-breathing. It is the big finale, really.
