Where to easily spot the Sri Lankan Junglefowl?
The national bird of Sri Lanka, the Sri Lankan Junglefowl, is most easily spotted foraging on the ground in Sinharaja Forest Reserve, Yala National Park, and Horton Plains.
These vivid ground-dwelling birds are highly active in the early morning and again in the late afternoon. Unlike timid canopy birds, the male junglefowl will often bravely cross dirt tracks and jungle paths right in front of safari jeeps. So they end up being one of the easiest endemic species to photograph.
