Where exactly is the Nine Arches Bridge?

The Nine Arches Bridge sits in Demodara, tucked right between the Ella and Demodara train stations, within the Badulla District. It crosses over a deep gorge, surrounded by tight jungle and also by green tea plantations that look really lush.

Getting to the bridge means a quick 30-minute walk from Ella town, either by going along the railway line straight from Ella station or taking the jungle path downhill, off Passara Road. The viaduct was built fully from brick, rock, and cement, with no steel piece anywhere, and it stands as a lasting emblem of British colonial engineering.
