The most renowned Ceylon tea estates are located in Sri Lanka’s central highlands, especially around Nuwara Eliya, Haputale, and Ella. The very high altitude plus cool weather helps create some of the world’s finest premium black teas in a very careful way.

Nuwara Eliya is often nicknamed the “Little England” of Sri Lanka, and it acts as the main hub for high-grown tea production. Estates such as Pedro, Dambatenne, and Blue Field provide full factory visits. Even if lower altitude areas make excellent rich and sturdy cups, the central mountainous districts stay the leading reference point for gentle, fragrant tasting notes.
