What is the World’s End drop in Sri Lanka?

World’s End is a dramatic, sheer cliff inside the Horton Plains National Park. It has a sudden, frightening vertical drop of about 1,200 metres, or 4,000 feet. When you reach the edge, you get an unmatched line of sight, running across the tea country all the way towards the southern coastline, as long as the day stays clear.

To actually see the fall, visitors need to hike a mostly level 9-kilometre loop route over the highland plateau. It is essential to be at the viewing platform before 9:00 AM, because later in the morning, thick white clouds that you cannot see through roll in quickly from the valley below. Then the whole scene turns into a flat wall of mist, and the “World’s End” sight is gone.
