What is the best time to visit Udawalawe National Park?
The dry months, mainly May through September, are usually a good time to visit Udawalawe National Park. With less rain, many areas nearby dry out, so animals often gather closer to permanent water. That can make elephants and other wildlife easier to spot.
Still, you can see wildlife at Udawalawe any time of the year. In most cases, early mornings and late afternoons work better. The air is cooler then, and animals may move around more than they do at the hottest part of the day. No sighting is assured, though.
