What are the main tourist areas to visit in Sri Lanka?
Tourist spots across Sri Lanka are usually grouped into three categories; the Cultural Triangle, the central Hill Country, and the coastal beach belts. In the Cultural Triangle you will find ancient places such as Sigiriya, Dambulla, and Polonnaruwa, which are well known for extensive UNESCO World Heritage listings and ancient ruins.
Then there’s the central Hill Country, this zone is celebrated for huge tea estates, waterfalls, and picturesque towns like Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, and Ella. When people go for shore tourism, whale watching, and surfing the southern coastline, including Galle, Mirissa, Weligama is the most visited, and the eastern coastline too, especially Arugam Bay.
