Is there a train from Colombo Airport to Colombo city?

There is no direct train station linked to the Colombo Airport terminal. The closest rail station is Katunayake South, about two kilometres away, and you will still need a brief taxi or tuk-tuk transfer to get there.

Trains running from Katunayake South to Colombo Fort are inexpensive, but they are pretty plain, and they are mostly used by local neighbourhood commuters. Because these trains do not really deal with heavy suitcases, and departures rarely follow a strict, tourist-friendly timetable, buses or taxis are far better for airport transfers.
