Is a Yala Safari Suitable for Elderly Travellers?

Lots of older visitors find Yala doable because most wildlife watching is done from the safari vehicle. The tougher parts are getting into the raised jeep and moving over rough, uneven tracks. This can be hard if you have knee, hip, or back issues.

Let the operator know about any mobility limits before they pick the vehicle for you. Some guests who are fine with sitting can manage the trip and enjoy it. Others with back, spine, or balance problems may feel safer with a shorter drive. Choose the safari length based on what feels comfortable for you, not just age.
