How long is the Kitulgala river rafting trip?
A standard white-water rafting trip in Kitulgala usually runs about 1.5 to 2 hours, for a 5-kilometre run along the Kelani River.
On the way, there are five small rapids and four big ones, and they’re mostly labelled Grades 2 and 3. That makes the whole thing doable for beginners, older travellers, and even families. The excursion tends to come with safety talks, gear fitting, and then later a quieter flat-water drift section at the end. During that part, people can hop out of the rafts and swim in the jungle river, if they want.
