How long does it take to travel from Colombo Airport to Galle?

Getting from Colombo Airport to the historic coastal city of Galle usually takes about two to two and a half hours, depending. The best way is a straight drive of around 150 kilometres along the Southern Expressway (E01).

Since this roadway goes around the busier parts of Colombo city, the trip tends to feel calm and practical. You can arrange a private taxi right from the airport arrival hall, or you can pre-book a transfer online. There are also expressway buses toward Galle, but you will need to take a taxi from the airport to the Makumbura Multimodal Centre first.
