How long does it take to custom-make jewellery in Sri Lanka?

Reputable jewellers in Sri Lanka usually take 3 to 7 days to design, cast, and set a custom jewellery piece, depending on how intricate the design is and which metal is used. For some straightforward work like a solitaire ring or a pendant, the process can sometimes be rushed in 48 hours.

A lot of tourists will choose a loose sapphire when they first arrive in Colombo or Kandy, then ask for a design, and later come back for the completed item before heading to the airport. For better assurance, don’t go for places that promise a very involved custom setting in under 24 hours, because that often leads to hurried, uneven metal finishing, or to the use of pre-made commercial mountings that are less reliable.
