How early should I arrive at Colombo Airport for an international flight?

Try to get to Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Colombo at least three hours ahead of your scheduled international departure time. That gives you enough runway for security lines, check-in, and immigration steps, even when things move a bit slowly.

On busy travel stretches, or around major holidays, arrive three and a half hours early if you can. At BIA, there are several security checkpoints, one at the terminal entry and another before the boarding gates, and sometimes this setup turns into a bottleneck. Also, do online check-in before you arrive; it is a good idea because it speeds up your luggage drop-off.
