Does Colombo have a metro train system?

No, Colombo does not currently have a metro or subway rail system. In day-to-day life, local transportation inside the city depends completely on buses, localised commuter trains, tuk-tuks, and ride-hailing rides.

Even though there are long-term proposals for a Light Rail Transit, or LRT, plan, the effort has run into major delays and cancellations repeatedly. For smooth and comfortable moving around Colombo, a lot of visitors and expatriates still lean toward ride-hailing apps like PickMe or Uber.
