Yes, Arugam Bay has a very lively nightlife when peak surfing season runs from May through September. During that time, the area puts on regular beach parties, live music sessions, and DJ nights, and it draws a youthful international crowd.

The whole scene is mostly built around well-known beachfront spots such as Mambo’s and Hideaway; they tend to swap off for the big weekend events. Still, once the surfing months are over, the town turns extremely quiet, with most bars and restaurants closing completely.
