Am I responsible for covering my chauffeur’s meals and accommodation?

In most standard Sri Lankan tour packages, the chauffeur’s meals and lodging are fully covered by the travel agency or arranged by the tourist hotels themselves. Usually, you do not need to pay these costs personally, out of pocket, at any point.

Most SLTDA-approved hotels have a separate drivers’ quarters setup, plus cafeterias where guides eat and sleep without any charge. However, if you decide on boutique villas or distant guesthouses that do not have those amenities, your operator commonly includes a daily driver allowance in your initial quote, so you do not incur unexpected fees later during the journey.
