What happens if my rental motorcycle breaks down?

Ravana Tour Specialist October 14, 2026

When a rental motorcycle fails in Sri Lanka, pull over in a safe spot. Turn on your hazards if you can. Then call the rental firm or your tour operator right away. What they offer depends on your rental terms. It may include roadside fixes, towing, or a replacement bike.

Help is not the same everywhere. The wait time can change based on where you are, how easy the road is to reach, and whether a mechanic is available. Some companies send help to repair the bike. Others may only offer a tow or another transport option.

Do not try to do big repairs on your own. Only do so if the rental company says it is allowed. If there is an urgent safety risk, handle it right away and then inform them.

Before you ride off, check the emergency phone number, the recovery plan, the rules for a replacement, and who pays for repairs. Bring a charged phone. Keep your rental papers close. This matters most in quieter areas far from services.
