Is motorcycle insurance included in the rental price?
Some Sri Lankan motorcycle rental prices can include basic third-party insurance, but full cover is not assured. Before you rent, check the vehicle’s insurance details, confirm that your ride is allowed under the policy, and read what the policy will not cover. Also ask about any extra fees for added protection.
Under Sri Lankan rules, vehicles driven on public roads must have the right third-party insurance or an eligible security plan, with limited legal exceptions. Even so, third-party insurance does not automatically cover damage to the rented motorcycle. It usually does not cover theft either, and it does not cover the rider’s medical bills.
Many rental firms offer optional insurance plans, and some set conditions like an excess payment or limits on who pays for damage. Get a written note from the rental company that the policy allows the use you plan to make of the motorcycle. Then confirm what you will pay if an accident happens.
