What documents are required for a Sri Lankan tourist driving permit?
People applying for a Sri Lankan temporary tourist driving licence usually must bring a full foreign driving licence that is still valid. They also need a passport. A valid visa, or another entry approval, is required too. If the original licence is not in English, they must submit a certified English translation. Without that, the application is not treated as complete.
Bandaranaike International Airport has published conversion notes for this process. Those notes say the foreign licence must stay valid for at least one year from the date you apply. Learner licences are not accepted. The same is true for provisional, probationary, and temporary licences.
When an English translation is required, the airport guidance says it must be certified by the right embassy. Applicants also need to pay the processing fee that applies to them. Other types of licence recognition can follow different rules. Because of that, travellers should check which option matches their situation.
