Who manages Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home?
Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home is run by Sri Lanka’s Department of Wildlife Conservation. This government agency handles wildlife protection and manages national parks. The centre began on 6 October 1995.
In the facility, rescued elephant calves get help from trained wildlife staff. Veterinary professionals also support the work. Their focus is on rehabilitation. This site is a government conservation effort. It is not a private venue for elephant rides or shows.
