Can I take wildlife photos in Udawalawe National Park?

Ravana Tour Specialist October 1, 2026

Yes, during a safari in Udawalawe National Park, visitors are usually allowed to take photos of wildlife and scenic areas. Taking photos is fine as long as it is done carefully. Do not bother the animals. Also follow all park rules.

Try not to use flash. Bright light can upset wildlife. Do not ask the driver to get too close to animals just to improve a shot. If you plan to do commercial filming, use a drone, or carry out other specialised professional work, you may need extra approval. This approval must be arranged with the Department of Wildlife Conservation.
