How long can I stay in Sri Lanka on a tourist visa?

A Sri Lankan tourist visa usually allows you to stay for up to 30 days, starting from the day you first enter.

If you want extra time, you can ask the Department of Immigration and Emigration for an extension. In many cases, you can submit the request online, or you may go to the head office in Colombo. Approval can allow you to stay for a total of up to 270 days, but this depends on your nationality. Try to file the request before the first 30 days run out; otherwise, you may face administrative penalties.
