What items are not allowed through Colombo Airport customs?

Ravana Tour Specialist August 20, 2026

Colombo Airport strictly forbids bringing in narcotics, pornographic material, and any literature or objects that may be viewed as derogatory to recognised religions. Weapons, explosives, and some agricultural products are banned too; in practice, this means no exceptions.

Also, antique items cannot be exported without special permission. Importing medications without the original prescription that comes with you is highly restricted. You should double-check your luggage for accidental issues, because Sri Lankan customs enforces these rules quite strictly, and penalties can happen right away.
