Sapphires coming from places like Australia or Thailand can often feel heavier in tone, more dim, and less transparent, partly because higher iron content can nudge the appearance darker and less glasslike. In contrast, Sri Lankan stones show a very particular sparkle. The most sought-after examples typically show a bright cornflower blue or a vivid royal blue. That inner glow, paired with long, continued historical prestige, is what makes them much more attractive to gem collectors and upscale jewellers across the globe.
