What migratory birds can I see in Bundala National Park?

Bundala National Park is a big winter stay place where you can easily get a good look at greater flamingos, pintail snipes, broad-billed sandpipers, and a range of terns. The park’s salty, brackish lagoons bring in thousands of waterfowl every year.

Because it is an internationally recognised Ramsar wetland, Bundala is a key last stop for birds moving along the Central Asian Flyway. Beyond the huge swarms of greater flamingos that famously paint the wetlands a pink colour, careful birdwatchers can also watch migratory waders finding shelter from the cold northern season, during the months of September to March.
