Are there massive wild crocodiles in Sri Lanka?
Sri Lanka is home to huge wild crocodiles, especially the Mugger crocodile and the Estuarine crocodile (Saltwater), with some individuals reaching up to 6 metres in length.
Mugger crocodiles are seen quite often resting near lakes in places like Yala, Udawalawe, and Bundala national parks. The Saltwater crocodiles live in coastal estuaries, quiet lagoons, and mangrove swamps, for example, the areas near the Madu River. Always take notice of local warning signs and never swim in inland waters or lagoons that you have not verified first.
