Are ride-hailing apps available in Sri Lanka?
Yes, ride-hailing apps are pretty widely available, genuinely useful, and very popular for quick journeys around Sri Lanka. The two main players running on the island are Uber and the local app PickMe; that’s it.
PickMe is usually seen as the more reliable local solution. It has a broad selection of vehicles from tuk-tuks to bigger vans, and it often shows better presence outside the capital than Uber does. Both services work a lot in Colombo, Negombo, and Kandy, and they tend to provide clear pricing, route visualisation, and GPS tracking. Just keep in mind that the app service can be thin, or even missing, in remote national parks or in deeper rural zones.
