Which medications should I avoid if I suspect I have dengue?

Ravana Tour Specialist July 23, 2026

If you suspect a dengue infection, you must strictly avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, and really any other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, also called NSAIDs.

Dengue fever naturally brings down platelet counts, which weakens the body’s ability to form blood clots. NSAIDs have blood-thinning effects. Using these medicines during dengue can sharply raise the likelihood of dangerous gastrointestinal bleeding, and it may also hasten the shift toward Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever.
