Frequent Questions
Why stay in Sigiriya for so many days?
Sigiriya is the perfect central point (“Hub”) for the Cultural Triangle. By staying here, you avoid packing and unpacking every day. You can reach Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura, and Dambulla within an hour.
Is the Popham’s Arboretum Night Walk safe?
Yes, it is a guided walk on marked trails. It is the best place in Sri Lanka to see the Loris in its natural habitat without disturbing them. Flashlights are provided.
What is unique about Ritigala?
Unlike other sites, Ritigala has no stupas. It was a meditation monastery for ascetic monks. The ruins are mysterious, and the micro-climate is cool and misty, different from the dry zone heat.
Can we climb Yapahuwa easily?
Yapahuwa is steep but shorter than Sigiriya. The stone staircase is very dramatic and great for photos. It is much less crowded than Sigiriya.
Is 12 days too long?
Not for a “Slow Travel” experience. This itinerary allows you to wake up late, enjoy the hotel pool, and see one major site per day without rushing. It is perfect for families or couples who want a relaxing holiday.
What is the difference between Avukana and Reswehera?
They are very close to each other. Avukana is a finished masterpiece standing freely. Reswehera is carved into the rock and is slightly unfinished, but has a more jungle-like, adventurous setting.
