Route: Airport ➔ NegomboArrive at the airport and transfer to the nearby coastal town of Negombo. Spend the day relaxing by the beach or exploring the local fishing village and the Dutch Canal. This is the perfect way to rest after your flight before starting your island adventure. Overnight in Negombo.
The Ancient Rock Fortress Route
Route: Negombo ➔ SigiriyaAfter breakfast, travel to Sigiriya, the heart of the Cultural Triangle. Climb the magnificent Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage site built by King Kashyapa. Enjoy the stunning views from the top and see the ancient frescoes and the Lion’s Paw. Overnight in Sigiriya.
The Royal Kingdom Route
Route: Sigiriya ➔ Dambulla ➔ KandyDrive towards Kandy, stopping at the Dambulla Cave Temple to see ancient Buddhist statues and paintings. Upon reaching Kandy, visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. In the evening, watch a traditional Sri Lankan cultural dance performance near the Kandy Lake. Overnight in Kandy.

Route: Nuwara Eliya ➔ EllaTake the scenic train or drive to the mountain village of Ella. Visit the famous Nine Arch Bridge and hike up Little Adam’s Peak for a breathtaking view of the Ella Gap. Spend your evening relaxing in one of the many cozy cafés in Ella town. Overnight in Ella.
The Southern Beach Route
Route: Ella ➔ MirissaLeave the mountains and head down to the southern coast to reach Mirissa. On the way, you can stop to see the Rawana Waterfall. Once you arrive in Mirissa, spend the afternoon relaxing on the golden sand or watching the sunset at Coconut Tree Hill. Overnight in Mirissa.
The Whale and Ocean Route
Route: Mirissa ➔ Galle ➔ MirissaEarly in the morning, go for a whale-watching boat tour in the deep sea. In the afternoon, take a short drive to the historic Galle Fort, a beautiful Dutch colonial site. Return to Mirissa for your final night by the beach, enjoying seafood and the ocean breeze. Frequent Questions
Is whale watching guaranteed?
Whale sightings are very common in Mirissa, especially between November and April. While not 100% guaranteed as they are wild animals, the success rate is extremely high during the season.
Can we take the train from Nuwara Eliya to Ella?
Yes, this is one of the most scenic train rides in the world. We can arrange for the driver to drop you at Nanu Oya station and pick you up at Ella station with your luggage.
Is the Sigiriya climb difficult?
It is a moderate climb of about 1,200 steps. There are platforms to rest along the way. We recommend climbing early in the morning to avoid the heat.
What is the best time for this tour?
This route covers the West, Central, and South coasts, which are best visited between November and April when the weather is dry and sunny.
Are entrance fees included?
No, entrance fees to sites like Sigiriya, Temple of the Tooth, and Whale Watching are excluded from the transport package and are payable directly at the ticket counters.
