Is Bentota Lagoon good for motorised water sports?

Bentota is Sri Lanka’s premier place for motorised water adventures, and honestly, it feels like the wide river estuary stays notably calm. It is protected from the harsher ocean swells, so the waves don’t really take over. As the water surface is so flat, the conditions are excellent for jet skiing, wakeboarding, and even fast banana boat rides throughout the whole year, not only in the nicer months.

Along the riverbank, there are plenty of licensed water sports centres, with decent rentals and trained guides. The whole setup is a safer and more family-friendly option compared with activities done directly at the sea, especially during the rough southwest monsoon season when swimming becomes too risky.
