Can you swim safely at Diyaluma Falls?

Yes, you can swim with a bit more confidence in the natural rock pools in the upper part of Diyaluma Falls, as long as you go during the dry season and keep a serious focus on safety near the edges.

In that upper area, the falls have step-like basins, and people often treat them as places for bathing. Still, swimming is totally unsafe during or right after heavy rain, because flash floods can arrive fast, and the water flow can turn fatal. Also, do not go anywhere close to the main drop-off of the 220-metre waterfall; the wet, slick surfaces have led to deaths before.
