Is Pasikudah Beach good for safe swimming?
Yes, Pasikudah is globally known for being one of the safest spots for a swim, with a shallow, calm bay that is guarded by an offshore reef. You can walk out hundreds of metres into the sea, and the crystal-clear water barely reaches your waist.
Set on the eastern coast, the bay has less intense rip currents and fewer big swells than what you often see at the southern beaches. The seabed is fairly level and sandy, so it becomes a good place for families, especially with small children, or for visitors who feel less confident in the water. The best time to catch these mirror-like conditions is in the East Coast dry season, which runs from May until September.
