How big is the famous Kandy Lake?

Kandy Lake has a circumference of about 3.2 kilometres (2 miles) and spans a total surface area of around 65 acres (0.26 square kilometres).

It was created in 1807 by King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe. This artificial lake was once known as Kiri Muhuda. It sits at the heart of the city and really fills the central space. If you take a calm walk on the paved, tree-lined edge, most visitors spend 45 to 60 minutes there, and you get a steady view without interruption of the nearby Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, plus the Hill Country beyond.
