Best wind season for Kalpitiya kitesurfing?
The main wind stretch for kitesurfing in Kalpitiya goes from May until October, pushed along by strong, very dependable southwest monsoon winds.
In that busy period, wind levels tend to sit around 18 to 25 knots on most days, so you get those top-tier flat-water conditions at the Kalpitiya Lagoon, good for freestylers and also for beginners. Then there is a smaller secondary run, starting around mid-December and running until early March. During this time, the afternoon gusts are a bit lighter (roughly 14 to 20 knots), which still works very well for riding, though not as powerfully as in the summer.
