Is the Wedasiti Kanda hike difficult?
It is a steep climb on paved steps/path, taking about 1-1.5 hours. It is suitable for anyone with average fitness. It is best done early morning before the sun gets too hot.
What is unique about Nimalawa?
It is one of the few places in the Yala region where you can safely walk in the forest. It gives you a sense of the “real jungle” smells and sounds that you miss inside a noisy jeep.
Can we see bears?
Yes, Sloth Bears are found in Yala Block 1 (Day 03) and sometimes in Lunugamvehera. They are most active during the Palu fruit season (May-July).
Is Chena food spicy?
Traditional Chena food is very healthy and organic. It can be spicy, but the farmers can prepare a milder version for tourists if requested.
Is Kataragama only for Hindus?
No, it is a multi-religious site where Buddhists, Hindus, and Muslims worship together. It is a fascinating place to observe religious harmony.
