Frequent Questions

Is Ambuluwawa dangerous?

The tower is safe, but the staircase gets very narrow and windy at the top. It is not recommended for people with a severe fear of heights (acrophobia) or small children to go to the very top tip. You can stop at the lower viewing decks.

Can our car go to the top?

The road is extremely steep and narrow. Most private cars stop at the main gate, and you have to hire a local Tuk-Tuk or use the park’s shuttle service to reach the tower base. This is safer and included in our plan.

Why Peacock Hill?

Most tourists only climb Ambuluwawa. But the best photo of Ambuluwawa is actually taken from Peacock Hill. It gives you a full view of the tower standing alone in the mist.

Is Gampola cold?

It has a mild climate, similar to Kandy but slightly cooler at night. It is very comfortable—not freezing like Nuwara Eliya, but not hot like Colombo.

What is special about the Biodiversity Complex?

It is a multi-religious center. You will see a Temple, a Kovil, a Mosque, and a Church all built next to each other, symbolizing harmony. The forest around it is man-made but rich in local plant species.

How long does the climb take?

The climb up the tower takes about 30-45 minutes depending on the crowd. We recommend going early morning to avoid the “Instagram crowd” and the afternoon mist.
