Frequent Questions
Is it safe to swim with sharks at Pigeon Island?
Yes, absolutely. The Blacktip Reef Sharks found here are small (2-4 feet) and shy. They do not attack humans. It is an amazing experience to see them in their natural habitat.
When is the best time to visit?
The East Coast season is opposite to the South. The best time is from May to October when the sea is calm and perfect for snorkeling.
Why stay in Nilaveli instead of Trinco town?
Nilaveli is about 15km north of the town. It has better beaches, clearer water, and is much quieter than the busy town center. It gives a real “Resort Holiday” feeling.
What is special about Kanniya Hot Springs?
The water comes from deep underground geothermal sources, but interestingly, the wells are just a few feet apart, yet their temperatures vary significantly. It is believed to have healing properties.
Are there ATMs?
Yes, Trincomalee is a major city. There are plenty of banks, ATMs, and supermarkets.
Can we see Whales in Trinco?
Yes! If you visit between March and August, Trincomalee is famous for spotting Sperm Whales and Blue Whales. We can add a whale-watching boat trip on Day 05 if you wish.
