Frequent Questions

Is the Snake Farm safe?

Yes, it is a well-known ayurvedic center. The venomous snakes are handled only by the experts, but you can touch/hold the non-venomous ones like Pythons under supervision. It’s a very unique experience.

Are crocodiles dangerous on the boat ride?

The boatmen are very experienced and know the river well. The boats are stable and safe. It is a thrilling experience but safe as long as you keep your hands inside the boat!

Why Koggala Lake?

It is a biodiversity hotspot. You can see majestic mangrove tunnels, bird life, and learn about the cinnamon industry which is native to this region.

Can we swim at the Blowhole?

No, the Hummanaya Blowhole area is a rocky cliff with rough seas. It is strictly for viewing the water jet.

Why Polhena for turtles?

Mirissa beach is deep and wavy. Polhena is shallow and calm. Turtles come there specifically to eat the seagrass near the shore, so it’s the easiest place to spot them while just standing in waist-deep water.

Is this tour suitable for kids?

Yes, kids love the Snake Farm, Turtle watching, and the Boat rides. The Wewurukannala “Tunnel of Hell” might be a bit scary for very young children, so you can skip that part if needed.
