Frequent Questions
Is 12 days too much for Ella?
Not at all. Ella is the perfect “Base Camp” for the Uva province. From here, you can easily reach Badulla, Haputale, Wellawaya, and Namunukula. Staying in one place avoids the stress of packing bags every day.
Is Nil Diya Pokuna safe?
It is an extreme adventure. You must be physically fit and not claustrophobic. We only use experienced, licensed guides for this activity. If you prefer not to do it, we can swap it for a relaxing spa day.
What is the weather like?
Ella is cool and pleasant (around 20-25°C). However, the weather changes fast. It can be sunny in the morning and misty/rainy in the afternoon.
Can we swim in the waterfalls?
Yes, Upper Diyaluma and Ellawala Waterfall are safe for swimming during non-rainy seasons. Dunhinda and Ravana Falls (roadside) are strictly for viewing only.
How hard is the Namunukula hike?
It is a challenging hike, harder than Ella Rock. It takes about 5-6 hours round trip. It is recommended for those who love serious trekking and raw nature.
Are there leeches?
Yes, in the tea plantations and jungle trails (especially Ella Rock and Namunukula), leeches are common. We recommend wearing leech socks or applying salt/balm.
