Yes, Hikkaduwa and Unawatuna (Dalawella Beach) are famous for wild sea turtles that swim close to the shore. You can often see them feeding on seagrass in the shallow water.

How long is the drive to Tangalle?

Tangalle is further south, but the drive from Unawatuna takes only about 2 hours along the scenic coastal road. The return trip to the airport is fast via the Southern Expressway (approx. 3.5 hours).

Is it safe to swim in all beaches?

Generally yes, especially during the peak season (Nov-April). However, currents can be strong in some areas like Tangalle. Always swim in designated safe areas or ask locals/lifeguards before entering the water.

What is the best time for this tour?

This itinerary focuses on the South and West coasts, so the best weather is from November to April when the sea is calm and the sky is blue.
